Evaluation Tools

Your doctor and health care team will perform a series of blood and other diagmostic tests during the course of your GH treatment, to monitor the effectiveness and performance of the treatment regimen. One of the beneficial effects of GH treatment is a loss of body fat, and the conversion of your body composition to increased lean muscle, and decreased total fat.

One way to self monitor the progress that you are making through your GH therapy is with the use of the body mass index measurement. The body mass index (BMI) is ratio of height and weight, and is a reliable indicator of obesity.

This section of the web site provides an easy to use BMI calculator tool, so you can monitor your progress throughout the course of your GH therapy treatment.  Please see also the brochure attached via an Adobe Acrobat attachment. The brochure is an expansive guide for patients undergoing GH supplementary therapy.

BMI Calculator tool

Your weight alone is not as valuable an indicator of body composition health as the BMI score. The BMI is a score that is used by medical professionals in the evaluation of your overall health. The BMI is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms, by the square of your height in meters. A score of 25 to 30 is considered to indicate an overweight person, and a score of over 30 indicates obesity.

GH treatment will counter the increased body mass that is often a symptom of a GH deficiency. You will likely see weight loss over time with GH treatment, and the BMI calculator can give you a quantitative tool to see your health improvements as measured by the BMI score.

This calculator tool will allow you to self track your progress, but should not be used as a replacement for a professional medical examination. You should see your health care team regularly while undergoing GH therapy.

To use the tool, simply enter in your height and weight into the tool below. The BMI calculator will convert your weight into kilograms and your height into meters automatically for you.
